Founder
Fabio A. Alzate Martinez | MSc in Urbanism, TU Delft (Cum Laude); Honours Master Programme, TU Delft; Bachelor in Architecture and Urbanism, FAAP (Academic Distinction)
I was born in Viçosa, Brasil, with origins in Colombia and Peru. Since I started my journey in Architecture and Urbanism, I received several national and international awards and excellence scholarships. My experience is based from professional experiences in the scales of the object, building, city, and territory gathered from offices in Brazil (SIAA, Estudio Tupi, and e-DAU), and in The Netherlands (FABRICations, Mei Architects and Planners, and Flux Landscape Architecture).
My work has been published in Harvard Planning Review, conference Acadia, and in the magazine Atlantis, and also internationally exhibited at the Museum of Brazilian Art MAB-FAAP (Schindler Global Award 4th place project) and TU Delft (International Symposium of Repositioning Urban Design).
My ambition with Nawi is to blur the boundaries in the design professions towards a resilient and restorative future.
Concept
Ñawi (in Quechua) has a variety of meanings referring to “eyes”, “vision”, and “attitude”. It is about the capacity of seeing beyond the obvious, perceiving the world in a deeper way while listening to your spirit’s voice. A sense that leads us to take a position upon what we see and feel-think, “senti-pensar”, a call of action.
Nawi is a combination of sensitive perceptions and expertises, born to weave together talents that do not dare to feel the world. We operate as a network of project-based collaborations that aim to build a better world.
